Grading service

Labelled sample data, not live results. Everything this page shows comes from a small fixed set of worked examples, written to fix the design of each state. Nothing here queries eBay or a grader. The live tool screens a number two ways: against that grader's cert-number format, and against SlabEye's sweep index of graded-card listings. It reads a grader's own record for one grader only — PSA, through PSA's API trial — and prints an honest “not readable” row for the other nine.

Worked examples — one per state:

The result ledger

Every state the ledger can print

The vocabulary is fixed. SlabEye reports what it observed against the sighting graph and, for PSA, the record it read; it never states that a card is or is not what the label says, because it cannot see inside a holder. A screening result carries one of four verdicts — 01 to 04 below, and those four are the whole set. The last two blocks are marked plainly: they are designed states the live screening result does not emit, and each says why. Every block is rendered by the same code the lookup above uses, from the same sample data.

How to read a verdict

What each state does and doesn't say

Data slots are honest or empty. The ledger only ever shows what SlabEye actually holds: the format check, the sighting counts, and — for PSA only — the record read live from PSA's API and not stored. Population, sub-grades and a reference image are designed slots that no readable record fills today, so the ledger prints the not-available row instead of a plausible-looking number.

Questions

About this page

Are these real listings?
No. Every cert number, count, seller handle and date on this page is sample data written to show how a state reads — none of these numbers is in SlabEye's index. The live tool screens against a daily sweep of graded-card listings on eBay US, UK, Germany and Australia; this page queries nothing.
What happens if I type a number that isn't an example?
You get a neutral result saying so, plus a working link to that grader's own record page. A demo that returned a clean verdict for a number it never checked would be the one dishonest thing this page could do, so it doesn't. The format check is real either way: it runs against the same per-grader shapes the live tool uses, on the number exactly as you typed it.
Is SlabEye telling me a card is what the label says?
No, and it cannot. It reports discrepancies it observed within its coverage. A clear screen is the absence of observed conflicts, not a verdict on the object inside the holder. The grader's own record is always one tap away.
